Two Die in Wrong-Way Crash on Route 67

A 29-year-old Jamul woman driving a silver Ford F150 pickup truck entered the northbound lanes of the highway, heading southbound at approximately 60 mph, the CHP reported.

Two people were killed Friday in a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on state Route 67 in Lakeside, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 3:15 p.m. near Winter Gardens Boulevard, according to the CHP.

The Ford collided head-on with a southbound 2014 Chevrolet 3500 utility vehicle driven by a 49-year-old man from Alpine, according to the CHP.

The force of the crash caused both vehicles to spin across northbound lanes and one of them collided with a 2002 Ford F450 driven by a 53-year-old man from El Cajon, the CHP reported.

The woman was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she died from her injuries while the man driving the Chevrolet 3500 was airlifted to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the CHP.

The man driving the F450 was uninjured.
