City Council gives direction in response to State’s action to kill redevelopment

More than 75% of the City’s $31 million budget goes to a workforce of 125. A deficit of $1.5 million cannot be filled without a reduction in personnel expenses. The City is therefore in the process of determining which positions can no longer be funded or must be funded at a reduced level. Also to be considered are future cost recovery measures such as increases to several fee schedules.
The City Council will formalize and ratify budget amendments aimed at eliminating the structural deficit at a future open session meeting.
