Weekday Beer Ban Begins at Town Center Park

The ban was approved in April and went into effect Monday, June 10.

Plan to make your next picnic at the park alcohol-free now that a new city ordinance aimed at reducing transient loitering at Town Center Community Park has gone into effect.

As of Monday, the consumption of alcohol at the Riverwalk Drive park on weekdays is banned by a city ordinance unanimously approved by the Santee City Council in April. Council members "became concerned that drinkers were intimidating the public and deterring families from using playgrounds and other facilities at Town Center Community Park," according to the city's blog, Santee Review.

A similar ban is in effect at Mast Park.
