L.A. writer, poet Amy Gerstler to lecture at Grossmont College
Grossmont College will host L.A. writer poet Amy Gerstler on Thursday night, Sept. 27.
Writer and poet Amy Gerstler will lecture at Grossmont College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, in Room #220 in Building #26. The public is invited to attend the free lecture, which is part of Grossmont College’s Creative Writing Program’s Fall Reading Series.
Gerstler, who lives in Los Angeles, has authored numerous reviews and published eight books of poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction, including Dearest Creature (Penguin, 2009), Ghost Girl (Penguin, 2004), Medicine (Penguin, 2000), Crown of Weeds (Penguin, 1997), Nerve Storm (Penguin, 1995), Bitter Angel (Carnegie Mellon, 1990), Past Lives (Santa Monica Museum of Art, 1989) and The True Bride (Lapis Press, 1986). Medicine was a finalist for a Phi Beta Kappa poetry award and Bitter Angel was a winner of a National Book Critics Circle Award. Gerstler has taught at Antioch West and the University of California at Irvine’s graduate writing program. She teaches writing seminars at Bennington College in Vermont and at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. More event information is available at www.grossmont.edu/english/creativewriting.
