Quail Brush: Defensible or Indefensible– the Devil is Always in the Details

Will the Planning Commission do the right thing on June 28th and finally make the wise and proper call on the Quail Brush docket item and effectively deny it?

starting at 9 a.m.

DEFENSIBLE

Today's June 28th at 9 AM in downtown San Diego is an appropriate time to state that Santee Patch has covered the story about the power plant in a superior manner and with uncommon (esp., these days) journalistic ethic, diligence in ascertaining and reporting the facts timely, as well as covering local facets of the issue.

Those fighting the atrocious proposal of a power plant at the edge of Santee and , have been heartened over the past several months by the hardworking and ever-present Mr. Bartholow and his colleagues from the Patch, at various related meetings and events. In December 2011, he was covering this topic before it "hit the fan":

The Patch is to be commended, especially in these times when journalism--that fundamental requirement for "liberty and justice for all"--seems vanquished and which especially hits the "little guy" hard as a result.  Like we Davids going up against Goliath in this power plant battle.

In defense of the Patch after reading a commenter who --particularly ads which peddle “The Facts” about power plants in close proximity to little league sport fields, schools and neighborhoods--it has been observed thus far that Patch journalists tend morally and ethically to their profession and are also engaged with the community.

Patch also promotes free speech. . . as this blog proves (for better or for worse).

INDEFENSIBLE

There are many watchful eyes and minds focused on the San Diego Planning Commission Hearing, Thursday, June 28th when this docket item is scheduled to be heard:

ITEM – 7: Continued from March 15, 2012; Continued from April 26, 2012

QUAIL BRUSH COMMUNITY PLAN AMENDMENT INITIATION – PROJECT NO. 270282

On June 26, 2012, a of the San Diego City Development Department's recommendation to approve the amendment initiation. The letter is of great interest and is provided as a PDF:  6/26/12 Todd T. Cardiff, Esq. – representing Robert Simpson.

With two continuances into this game and going up to bat for the third time, with respected officials, organizations and the public strongly opposed (click to read their statements), with brow-raised vexation over the city recommending approval for such an "out of bounds" amendment initiation, and with the submission of Todd Cardiff's letter:  Will the Planning Commission take heed and do the right thing?  Will the Commission make the wise and proper call on this docket item and effectively deny it?   Bear in mind: David did beat Goliath.

Stay posted... at the Patch, of course.
