Academic League Week 11: Santee Teams Tie for First Place
Santana and West Hills' varsity teams will meet for a play-off match on Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grossmont High School Library.
Academic League is a quiz bowl type competition with fast-paced questions ranging from arts, math, history, government, current events and other subjects students might encounter in school. Santee Patch will be reporting scores and standings each week of competition.
Santana and West Hills’ varsity teams will soon face off to determine which will be named the district’s 2010-11 Academic League varsity champions.
Both teams beat their opponents in week 11 of the Grossmont Union High School District Academic League Competition.

Santana outscored El Capitan, 70 to 38. West Hills topped El Cajon, 70 to 28.
With a 9-to-1 record each, the two teams remain deadlocked for first place in the district.

Although Santee’s junior varsity teams didn’t take home first prize, both beat their opponents, too.
Santana finished the season in third place, and West Hills finished the season in seventh place.
The 25-minute play-off match between the two varsity teams will take place on Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grossmont High School Library.
Following the play-off match, there will be two all-star matches from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in Grossmont High School’s Old Gym. The third annual Academic League spaghetti dinner and awards ceremony will take place after the competitions.
