Santana Softball Wins CIF Championship Against Cathedral
Sultans took the Division III CIF San Diego Section championship after beating Cathedral Catholic 4-2..
The Santana varsity softball team won the Division III championship game against Cathedral Catholic on Saturday, taking the CIF title for the fifth time in school history.
Pitcher Amber Schisler led the Sultans to the 4-2 victory, kicking the game off with an early two-run homerun. Runs were scored by Ashley Groover, Kayti Grable, Ariel Rasmusson, and Schisler.
Cathedral kept pace with Santana until about the fourth inning, when the Sultans held on tight to the lead.
The last time the Sultans won a CIF title for softball was in 2008.
