West Hills to Play for Softball Title; Santana Ousted

Wolf Pack will meet Bonita Vista for the Division II championship Saturday at UCSD.

The West Hills High girls softball team will get the opportunity to play for the CIF San Diego Section Division II championship on Saturday after splitting a pair of games on Thursday.

The Wolf Pack lost a 1-0 pitcher's battle to Bonita Vista in a 3 p.m. game at Scripps Ranch High, West Hills' first loss in the double-elimination tournament. But the Pack rebounded to edge Point Loma High 2-1 in a 7:30 p.m. elimination game, earning another shot at Bonita Vista, which is 34-1 on the season.

West Hills (18-10) and the Barons will play the 4:30 p.m. game Saturday at the UCSD softball field adjacent to RIMAC Areana on the La Jolla campus.

Santana needed two wins Thursday to make the Division III championship game, but the Sultans lost a 2-1 decision to University City at the Poway Sportsplex. University City will meet Ramona in the 2 p.m. championship game at UCSD on Saturday.
