Santee Amateur Softball Association at Districts

This past weekend, June 24-26, Santee Girls ASA was priviledged to host The "B" District Tournament for the South San Diego Division of SO CAL ASA. This was a first for Santee ASA. With the improvements made by the City of Santee within the last year, our fields were a prime spot to host Districts, especially with the addition of Santee's in our town.

We had our four Gold All-Star teams participating in this tournament, 14U, 12U, 10U and 8U.

Our 14U team battled hard in Districts.  They lost to East County,  won against Scripps and qualified to go to the State Tournament, which is in Lancaster, CA on July 8-10.

Our 10U team lost their first game against Bonita Valley, but battled back the whole weekend. The girls played good clean games.  On Saturday they played against Lakeside and East County, winning both games.  On the last day of the tournament, the girls played 3 games in a row, back to back, including the championship game.  They won the first 2 games against Clairemont and Scripps Ranch, not only qualifying them to go to State, along with the 14U team, but guaranting them a spot in the championship game.

They played the Championship game against Bonita Valley and fought hard.  They ended up losing by a VERY narrow margin and placed 2nd at Districts.  A GREAT accomplishment to the Santee 10U Gold All-Star Team. Way to go girls!!  We are very proud of you! 

The 8U Gold team played hard as well.  they won against Bonita Valley and Penninsula, but then lost to East County.  They went up against Bonita Valley against just wasn't able to pull off another win against Bonita Valley.

12U Gold team was another shining star in our league.  Playing their first game in Districts that Friday night, they were losing to Imperial Valley.  They came back to win that game 7-3.  On Saturday afternoon they played against Alpine, winning 6-2, qualifying them a place at the State Championships Tournament.  But they weren't done yet.  Saturday night they played against Bonita Valley, wining 5-3.  This win guaranteed them a spot in the Championship Game on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon was the Championship Game. Santee was playing their rival, East County, a team they had lost to during East County's Corky Russell tournament in May.  The girls played well, they played hard. And they WON.  The Santee 12U Gold 2011 team became the FIRST 12U Santee team to EVER win Districts!!  A great accomplishment for our girls and something to be VERY proud of!

All eight of our Santee All-Star Teams are playing up at the Freedom Tournament in Escondido this weekend. We are rooting for them all!
