When Do Fourth of July Fireworks Start in Santee?

Santee Salutes Fourth of July celebration begins at 3 p.m., but when should you expect fireworks to light up the sky?

More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the Santee Salutes Fourth of July Celebration and many more eyes around town will turn to the sky for the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Councilmember Rob McNelis called the fireworks show the "fastest blowing up of $20,000 the city does." Thankfully for the city coffers, Waste Management, the company that takes care of Santee's trash, presented a $37,000 check to city council recently, to cover the cost of fireworks and other annual city events.

The city suggests that dogs be kept inside for the duration of the fireworks show.
